This is a tough one, I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, I don't think a personal issue such as this, should be entertained by a court system that is completely overwhelmed; on the other hand, she made some life altering decisions based on the promises made by this guy (certainly this happens a million times a day).
There is a lack of accountability for our choices and actions today and this is a fine example of same.
Probably this issue should have never gone to court.
I hate these types of cases. So someone changed their mind about getting married, big deal. Happens all of the time. I do feel sorry for this woman but that is life. I'm not convinced however, that she is entitled to a monetary judgement. She is Lucky. I have seen these things go the other way as well. Some staes would make her actually give the ring back. I.m not really sure who the bigger person is here.
This is just another story that like Kim said "happens a million times a day". Unfortunately she made a bad choice. I would like to say that after 5 years if he is non-committal you should just walk away, but each person is different. Not sure if she should have received $150K for all of this, but obviously the court system did. She could of walked away, which is what most of us would do, but she apparently felt that she had a case. So kudos to her for pursuing it, and hopefully next time she will find a man that has more chutzpah then just leaving her a note.
This is crap. If she was with this guy for five years and he did not want to get married, what made her think he was going to go through with it. She should have been smarter and waited till they were married to make those changes in her life. I think it sucks that he did that to her, but I think this is on her for making bad choices.
