Business interests seek employer sanction changes

This seems like a law that should apply to all businesses, not just licensed ones. These business owners should be held accountable for their hiring of illegal immigrants.

I think it should pertain to all businesses too. If you (owner or hiring manager) knowingly hire an illegal immigrant they deserve to have to face the consequences. If you are an owner and don't think that you should be held accountable for your employees (ie hiring manager) than there is something wrong with your ethics. You have hired this person to make decisions on your behalf and if it comes down it the owner should be more involved in the hiring process (interview your own employees). I also like the idea that those who use the federal database are allowed a certain protection. It’s like doing your taxes at a tax place; there is usually a clause that they will protect you from the possibility that they made a mistake. As far as the illegal immigrants leaving and going home, that is what should be happening to open more jobs for Americans to get and for businesses to have to pay them the minimum wage required instead of an illegal immigrant who will work under the table for dirt cheap and no medical benefits.

This goes back to my comments from the article regarding over 300 illegal immigrants arrested. The government needs to start fining employors and shutdown operations when they are found to knowingly hire illegals. This is the only way they will start to take the law more seriously and not want to run the rist of hiring immigrants. Again, it there are no jobs for them then it may stop them from coming over.
