I took the presidential quiz last night and this was one of the topics asked about (illegal immigration). I wonder if this will make it into tonight's debate.
I know that they are trying to gain control of this situation, but I just do not see it working unless they start to fine the employors and shutdown operations. They maybe companies will start taking the government more seriously and not want to run the rist of hiring immigrants. No jobs would stop them from coming over.
I find it frustrating that they offer these jobs to immigrants. I feel that they do it so they do not have to pay the minimum wage to American employees. I think we need to have our workforce employed before we start trying to employee illegal immigrants for less.
I do not think illegal workers are big issue. No one wants the jobs they get. The problem is that they are paid cash respectively no taxes. The good think is that they work hard and do not stay on welfare. They are not criminals, they are harmless. If we shutdown companies that rely on illegal workers there will be a lot of legal workers that will lose their jobs too.
I view it differently as can be read in the message that I left in response to the most recent article posted. I feel that employers are taking the easy way out yes by paying cash and therefore no taxes and also by not wanting to pay for what people deserve to make for the jobs that they do. It is cheaper for the business owners to pay an illegal immigrant lower wages and no benefits than it is to employee someone who would expect to get what they deserve. They (the business owners) are just greedy and our American work force is feeling it. As far as staying off of welfare goes, if they are an illegal immigrant can they even get welfare, they are here illegally after all?
